Helping children understand and cope with dementia

Dementia is a disease that is more prevalent and seems to be touching loved ones all around us. I have written this book for you to use as a tool to talk to your children and grandchildren about the changes that occur for an individual with dementia.

I decided to write this book based on my experiences working in Long Term Care Facilities over 30 years as well as from the perspective of being a care giver. The story encourages the sharing of memories, connecting with loved ones and especially those suffering from dementia.

Hi! I’m Deborah Provencher, but please, call me Debbie. Anyone who knows me knows that I am passionate about life, being present, and contributing to those around me. My ideas come from the life I live and the experiences I have. Every story has a message. As you read my stories to your children, you will experience how words express joy, imagination and take you on a journey.

Throughout my life I have always persevered and worked hard to learn new skills. My optimism has carried me through all challenges. By this process I have discovered that my voice for writing is for children’s books for ages 3 to 9.

I live with my very supportive husband, Mike, my study buddy Mocha. We live in Nanaimo BC. Canada and enjoy our lives together.
